ISSUE 18 NE Ohio Series #2 // Edited by Zach Savich
Ordinary Strata (Lake Erie)
This poem is an attempt at simultaneity through strata, a layering of place-based associations. It’s part of a series that takes inspiration from Lorine Niedecker’s “Lake Superior” and Russell Atkins’s “Lakefront, Cleveland.”
Caryl Pagel is the author of two books of poetry and an essay collection, Out of Nowhere Into Nothing (FC2, 2020). She’s the co-founder of Rescue Press, a poetry editor at jubilat, and director of the Cleveland State University Poetry Center.
