Two from “House”
︎
"House" is a long poem divided into small prose sections, which are individually untitled. These two sections originally appeared in jubilat. I began writing "House" in Iowa City under a cloud of homesickness, when I was looking for greater connections to my mostly Mormon ancestors. I was especially thinking about a childhood friend who'd recently died, with whom I'd grown up running around sagebrush fields like this one. This poem is a question with no answer. The video was shot near the shores of the Great Salt Lake, where I now live. It felt good to take "House" home.
